My client needed a banner for their sponsored post on dev.to website — a vibrant community of programmers.
The goal was to create a design that would highlight the theme of the post and incorporate the elements of client’s branding which has a space travel flavor. All while blending seamlessly with the playful style of dev.to:
The post was about building a chat app using Swift UI. My idea was to create a simple illustration of a rocket ship (representing my client) and a blue bird (representing Swift UI) who are building a chat app together using a bunch of user interface elements.
The dev.to community is known for their liking of emojis, so using emojis for the characters was a natural choice. After the main composition was ready I tailored it to dev.to website by using sampled colors, matching fonts, and adding some fun backgrounds and borders
Resulting image fitted all the requirements nicely and became a good illustration for the blog post.
